Contemporary, unique, AND beautiful!
This substantial 14K yellow gold ring is set with a free form Mexican Fire Opal. This opal has an orange body color but is loaded with flashes of red, orange, yellow, and green typical in "traditional" opals. This opal is set in five claw prongs and one heavy bar along the opal side of the ring. The opposite side of the ring is wide and open, think of a frame. This frame is set with five round brilliant cut diamonds in bezels.
The opal weighs 3.45cts
The five diamonds have a total weight of 0.20cts. These diamonds have color grades in the "G-H" range and clarity grades in the VS2-SI1 range.
I purchased the opal at the Tucson Gem Show several years ago. The diamonds are rescued. They are sourced from second hand jewelry, extracted, sorted and graded. All the gold that I use is recycled. I designed this ring in Matrix, grew the "wax" in my studio, and cast it in house as well.
